OFFICE

March 26, 2015

Moving into a new room is always a great opportunity to become intentional about your space, and give time to re-organise and prioritise your working life. So, you can imagine how good it feels for us two creatives to have designed and built our dream space. All for efficiencies sake, of course.

Our last office was the smallest of three that we have renovated and leased out in Auckland City. They are all lovely with plenty of natural light, an awning we can party on, and hard wooden floors in a historic spot on K’ Road. But, we have needed a bigger space for sometime now, and decided to upgrade to one of the bigger offices when one of our office pals decided to up-and-atom (to Iceland!) And yes, we were singing ‘M People’s ‘Moving On Up‘ the whole time.

Our design was centred around our needs (As all good design should be. Form vs function, and all that jazz..):
– Enough storage for all of our Crushes goodies and materials, and
– Bench space for our crazy-crafty-times.

We think we are pretty clever with the result, as we have invented the best desk ever! It is easy, cost effective, and gives us all the room we could ever need. Plus, wire baskets #sohotrightnow

Our thick, oiled ply happened to be the perfect dimensions to fit in-between these Clever Closet runners from Bunnings – So no building needed!

We purchased the brackets and shelving system from Mitre 10 which gives the room some symmetry and an opportunity for styling, which you know we love.

One of our favourite aspects of the room is this amazing photograph that we printed on matte poster paper at a whopping 900x1800mm. It’s the view/window we wish we had. The 35mm analogue beauty was taken from the super-talent, our friend and store manager Marie Wade (Do yourself a favour and follow her photography instagram. Now.)

Lastly, the rug, blankets and sheepskins are all thrifted by yours truely! The natural tones creates such an easy and relaxed environment. LOVE.
